Skyy Power FM 93.9 is a pioneering private radio station located in Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of Ghana’s Western Region. It officially began operations in October 1997, founded by media entrepreneur Wilson Arthur, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Skyy Media Group.
The station started broadcasting from a small flat in Windy Ridge before relocating in 2001 to its iconic premises known as Skyy House in West Fijai, Sekondi-Takoradi. This new location became a multipurpose media and cultural space, housing the radio station, an amphitheater, and other facilities that promoted both broadcasting and community engagement.
Skyy Power FM has since become one of the most influential voices in the region. It is widely recognized for its community-driven content, sports journalism, and local development advocacy. With a strong presence in both Akan and English, the station serves a diverse audience base that includes young professionals, local business owners, sports fans, and policy-conscious citizens.
One of its standout programs, Yen Mpuntuo (“Our Progress”), has been instrumental in highlighting developmental issues in the Western Region, especially those related to mining communities, social infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
